🇨🇿 Czech Živnostenský List (Trade License)
The €100 freelancer visa that built Prague's expat scene
The Živnostenský List (trade license) is Czechia's self-employment residency pathway — and the reason Prague has one of Europe's largest expat freelancer communities. You register a trade (živnost), prove you have a place to operate from, and get long-term residency. No minimum income requirement, no clients needed upfront, no complicated business plans. The trade license itself costs about €100 and takes a day. The residency application takes 2–4 months. Once you're in, you renew every 2 years, and after 5 years you can apply for permanent residence. The catch: Czech bureaucracy is in Czech, and the system runs on stamps, queues, and a deep institutional suspicion that you might be trying to get away with something.
Who actually qualifies
